File your taxes from sign-up, spending by place, one Filters menu

Sign up to have your taxes filed and go straight from your prior-year return to a tax filing track, even without the return or any linked accounts. Ask Nino what you spent in a city or on a trip, filter Transactions by location, amount, and more from one Filters menu, and see exactly which records back an answer.

Now you can

  • A tax filing sign-up that reads last year's return and opens your tax filing track
  • Start a tax filing track without last year's return or any linked accounts
  • Ask "how much did I spend in Croatia?" and get every charge from the trip
  • One Filters menu on Transactions, with location, money in or out, amount, pending, and who set the category
  • Balance and cashflow answers show the records behind them

New

  • Signing up from File your taxes now takes you through a tax filing setup. Upload last year's federal return, watch Nino validate it, read the schedules, and pull out the key figures, then start your tax filing track and land in its room in one click.
  • You can start a tax filing track without last year's return. Nino asks a few short questions about what the return would have shown, like W-2 or 1099 work, your banks and brokerages, and a mortgage or student loans, and turns the answers into a checklist that names the companies involved.
  • Ask Nino about spending in a place, like "how much did I spend in Nashville?" or "tell me about my spend in Croatia." It totals each trip, can list the charges one by one, and links to Transactions filtered to that place.
  • Transactions has a Location filter. Search for a city, state, country, or nickname like "nyc" or "sf", see how many transactions each place has, and the list, totals, and CSV export all follow your pick.
  • Transactions now has one Filters menu with new filters for money in, money out, or transfers, an amount range, pending or posted, and whether you, Nino, or nobody set the category. Each filter you set shows as a chip you can open or clear.
  • Answers about balances and cashflow come with source chips. Open one to see the dates, how many records it covers, and any limits, then jump to those exact transactions.
  • A new cash-yield Insight shows how much more interest your checking and savings could earn at a high-yield rate, measured from the interest your accounts actually paid, and leaves enough behind for bills.

Updates

  • Without linked accounts, a tax filing track still builds a checklist that names where each form comes from, like your W-2, brokerage 1099s, and mortgage 1098.
  • When you don't have an advisor yet, the filing steps on a tax filing track are assigned to Nino CPA, so you can see the full path from intake review to filing and acceptance.
  • React to an Insight right from its conversation in Inbox, and reactions now lead the card footer on the Insights page.
  • Account-linking Insights are more accurate. Insurance payments no longer suggest an account, payments that already land on a linked account are skipped, your own name never shows up as a payee, and open cards are rechecked so stale ones close on their own.
  • Transactions keeps showing your current results while a new filter or page loads, the bulk action bar stays in view as you scroll, and bulk re-filing warns you when the selection includes paychecks, refunds, or transfers.
  • The time under each transaction's date is now when it happened, not when it was saved.
  • Income and Expenses totals and the CSV export now match the filters you have set, and "select all matching" only re-files the transactions you can see.
  • If Nino updated while your tab was open, it reloads into the new version with a quick note and a link to what's new, instead of an error screen.
  • The Overview table and summary labels on Home use sentence case and are easier to read next to the numbers.

Bug fixes

  • Connected holdings now use your brokerage's price, so a ticker matched to the wrong foreign listing no longer throws off your holdings, allocation, and gains.
  • Roth retirement accounts that your provider reports as Roth but Nino stored as traditional are now filed as Roth, and later syncs can correct what they detected. A tax treatment you set yourself is never changed.
  • Sending an Inbox message clears its draft right away, and a discarded draft no longer comes back.
